This role involves conducting individual, group, and family therapy sessions, actively participating in treatment planning, and ensuring comprehensive communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. The therapist is crucial in supporting the department's clinical, operational, and administrative excellence within a behavioral health hospital setting.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions to educate patients regarding psychological, emotional, or substance abuse problems
- Display active involvement in the treatment planning process
- Provide family session counseling to all patients to ensure appropriate communication and involvement of family members and support groups
- Actively communicate with clients, families, and outside referral sources
- Demonstrate proactive communication with those involved with the patient's treatment
- Work well with the interdisciplinary team including physicians, utilization review and nursing staff members
- Complete appropriate paperwork for clients in a timely, accurate and complete manner
- Demonstrate appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
- Complete accurate assessments of patients utilizing clinical skills
- Complete all documentation thoroughly, timely, and in accordance with hospital standards
- Display active involvement in the discharge, transition, and after-care planning treatment processes
Requirements
- Master's degree in social work, counseling, or psychology
- Current unencumbered clinical license
Qualifications
- Master's degree in social work, counseling, or psychology, or a Master's degree for Married and Family Therapist (MFT)
- Prior experience with psychiatric and chemical dependency patients
