Maintain a healthy environment for shelter animals by performing daily cleaning, disinfection, and ensuring adequate care. Monitor animals for health concerns and assist with exercise and socialization.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a healthy environment for shelter animals through careful disinfection techniques
- Observe proper animal handling to treat, prevent, and contain infectious diseases
- Perform daily cleaning and disinfection of common areas following prescribed shelter protocols
- Ensure all animals are provided with adequate food, water, bedding, and toys
- Monitor animals for signs of ill health and disease
- Notify supervisor to receive direction on treatment and implement prescribed medical treatments
- Exercise and socialize animals as directed and as time allows
- Complete laundry and dishes
Requirements
- Ability to properly and safely handle a variety of animals of different temperaments and in various conditions of health
- Knowledge of basic animal health care, animal behavior, and a commitment to animal welfare
