Teaching Professor

About This Role

The College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University is hiring Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professors to teach macroeconomics and contribute to both undergraduate and graduate-level courses. These roles focus on delivering engaging instruction, particularly in large sections of Principles of Macroeconomics, and require a commitment to teaching excellence and departmental service.

Responsibilities

• Teach six courses per academic year (three courses per semester), with a primary focus on macroeconomics
• Emphasize large sections of Principles of Macroeconomics for undergraduate instruction
• Contribute to graduate-level macroeconomics courses, including MS-level macroeconomic theory and potentially PhD-level macroeconomics
• Provide student advising
• Engage in professional development activities
• Participate in service activities for the department and college

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Economics or a related field in hand by the employment start date
• Strong record of exemplary teaching and/or demonstrated sufficient promise
• Commitment to teaching excellence
• Ability to manage large-enrollment courses effectively
• Willingness to contribute to both undergraduate and graduate teaching missions

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Economics or a related field

Nice to Have

• Secondary teaching interests in machine learning, computational economics, or data-intensive methods
• Experience at the rank of Associate Teaching Professor or comparable experience for Associate level
• Experience at the rank of Full Teaching Professor or comparable experience for Full Professor level
