About This Role

Plan, organize, and implement an instructional program for social studies to encourage students' academic development at Harmony Public Schools. Utilize diverse teaching practices to meet individual student needs and maintain a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and support the mission, vision and values of Harmony Public Schools
  • Model and instill a love of learning in students
  • Design and implement appropriate instruction of social studies content in accordance with school standards, curriculum, and student needs
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that maximize student engagement and learning
  • Utilize a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to meet individual student needs
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with school rules and disciplinary systems
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
