Teacher - Social Studies

About This Role

The Social Studies Teacher plans, organizes, and implements instructional programs to guide and encourage students' academic development. This role focuses on delivering engaging lesson plans and fostering a positive learning environment within Harmony Public Schools.

Responsibilities

• Understand and support the mission, vision, and values of Harmony Public Schools.
• Design and implement appropriate instruction for assigned content areas in accordance with school standards.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that maximize student engagement.
• Utilize a variety of teaching practices and methodologies to meet individual student needs.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, leveraging relevant technology.
• Manage student behavior and maintain discipline by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
• Encourage and monitor student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
• Attend department, school, district, and parent meetings; participate in staff development and committees.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and regulations.
• Communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Proficiency in using computer software, databases, spreadsheets, word processing, calculator, copy machine, and telephone
• Ability to analyze data
