Teacher Science - Grade 8

About This Role

Plan and deliver appropriate learning experiences for 8th-grade science students in Gwinnett County, ensuring mastery of the district's AKS curriculum. Create an atmosphere conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development.

Responsibilities

• Plan for appropriate learning experiences based on the district Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum
• Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students
• Demonstrate command of the school subject being taught
• Develop and prioritize short and long-term instructional objectives based on district AKS curriculum
• Analyze student work and assessments to determine instructional needs
• Prepare written lesson plans to support instructional objectives of the AKS for all students
• Plan appropriate assessment of student learning and provide specific feedback
• Utilize scientifically researched effective instructional strategies and methods
• Organize learning environment to maximize student time on task and maintain behavior conducive to learning
• Participate in professional growth and professional learning activities and maintain professional responsibilities as a role model

Requirements

• Meets Georgia certification requirements in appropriate field of education
• Bachelors degree in applicable field of education from a Professional Standards Commission (PSC) approved college or university
• Knowledge of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum
• Ability to understand the teaching/learning process
• Ability to infuse technology into instruction to increase student learning
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Effective human relations skills

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in applicable field of education from a Professional Standards Commission (PSC) approved college or university
• Previous teaching experience preferred. Entry-level role based on seniority provided.
