Tax Associate - State and Local Tax

About This Role

This role involves supporting clients on a broad range of complex state and local tax matters, collaborating with partners to deliver practical guidance and contribute to strategic client initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Support clients on a broad range of state and local tax matters including corporate income, franchise, sales and use, property, payroll, withholding, and personal income tax
• Assist with controversy, audit defense, and litigation support
• Provide tax planning, structuring, and transactional analysis
• Collaborate closely with partners and senior attorneys to deliver practical guidance
• Support multi-state tax projects and contribute to strategic client initiatives
• Conduct thorough and comprehensive legal research and analysis
• Draft well-written, error-free, and reasoned legal documents
• Assist/Manage a variety of complex cases/transactions from inception to resolution
• Build, maintain, and cultivate strong internal and external client relationships
• Ensure rigorous compliance with legal standards and regulations

Requirements

• 3-5 years of dedicated State and Local Tax experience
• Experience with corporate income and franchise tax, sales and use tax, property tax, payroll/withholding tax, and/or individual income tax matters
• JD Degree from an accredited law school
• Admitted to practice in the state in which they are officing

Qualifications

• JD Degree from an accredited law school.
• 3-5 years of dedicated State and Local Tax experience

Nice to Have

• Exposure to controversy or litigation (administrative or judicial)
• Experience with tax planning and restructuring matters
