This role delivers crucial support and education programs to individuals and families impacted by cancer. The specialist will conduct assessments, facilitate support groups, and provide outreach to ensure a welcoming and empowering environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver support and education programs and facilitate assigned support/networking groups with subsequent documentation
- Conduct initial assessments with all members and Quality of Life Scale assessment
- Provide as needed presence in cancer infusion centers
- Provide telephone/walk-in support to people with cancer, caregivers, families, and friends, and bereaved individuals
- Assist in program activities including introduction, announcements, room setup/breakdown, program monitoring, serving support group meals, clean up, and data collection
- Participate and facilitate program outreach for specific events and programs in general
- Participate in regular and as needed staff and supervision meetings
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Expressive Therapy or a related field
- Experience in providing supportive therapy and groups
- Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or equivalent in the State of IN
- Strong clinical skills, including individual and support group experience and ability to work with issues surrounding chronic and life-threatening illness
- Valid Driver’s License
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Expressive Therapy or a related field from an accredited institution
- 1-3 years experience in oncology and/or support group facilitation highly desired
Nice to Have
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- 1-3 years experience in oncology and/or support group facilitation
