About This Role

This role delivers crucial support and education programs to individuals and families impacted by cancer. The specialist will conduct assessments, facilitate support groups, and provide outreach to ensure a welcoming and empowering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver support and education programs and facilitate assigned support/networking groups with subsequent documentation
  • Conduct initial assessments with all members and Quality of Life Scale assessment
  • Provide as needed presence in cancer infusion centers
  • Provide telephone/walk-in support to people with cancer, caregivers, families, and friends, and bereaved individuals
  • Assist in program activities including introduction, announcements, room setup/breakdown, program monitoring, serving support group meals, clean up, and data collection
  • Participate and facilitate program outreach for specific events and programs in general
  • Participate in regular and as needed staff and supervision meetings

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Expressive Therapy or a related field
  • Experience in providing supportive therapy and groups
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or equivalent in the State of IN
  • Strong clinical skills, including individual and support group experience and ability to work with issues surrounding chronic and life-threatening illness
  • Valid Driver’s License

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Expressive Therapy or a related field from an accredited institution
  • 1-3 years experience in oncology and/or support group facilitation highly desired

Nice to Have

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • 1-3 years experience in oncology and/or support group facilitation
