About This Role

Supervise nursing staff in the Surgery department at Providence Saint John’s Health Center, ensuring high-quality patient care and operational efficiency. This role involves planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating unit services while maintaining clinical competence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Nurse Manager or Director in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating services of the unit
  • Manage and coordinate the unit's functions and activities
  • Direct and supervise caregivers in the Surgery department
  • Interpret policies, procedures, protocols, standards, and regulations
  • Maintain clinical competence and certifications to assist the unit when required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or commitment to obtain within 3 years for those hired prior to 1/1/17)
  • California Registered Nurse License
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association (upon hire)
  • ANCC recognized specialty certification (upon hire or within 1 year of hire for those hired prior to 2/16/2022)
  • 1 year of Recent clinical experience in an acute care hospital in specialty area
  • 1 year of Charge Nurse/Relief Charge Nurse experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year of Recent clinical experience in an acute care hospital in a specialty area; 1 year of Charge Nurse/Relief Charge Nurse experience

Nice to Have

  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Shared Governance experience
