About This Role

This role assists the site administrator in the organization and administration of the school, as well as with district-wide key leadership projects. The specialist will help coordinate instructional programs, student services, and foster positive relationships within the school community.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the site administrator in the organization, management, and administration of the school's instructional program(s)
  • Coordinate all auxiliary services within the school
  • Supervise, counsel, and discipline students
  • Establish effective interpersonal relationships among staff, students, and the school community
  • Communicate school and District goals, procedures, and objectives to the community, staff, and student body
  • Provide leadership and guidance in adjusting the school’s program and procedures to individual student needs
  • Assist teachers in effective methods of motivating good behavior and maintaining discipline
  • Provide student guidance services, including maintaining preventative discipline, attendance, guidance, and academic files
  • Screen Student Study Team referrals and initiate appropriate action
  • Assist with the development, coordination, and supervision of student activities
  • Confers with students, parents, teachers, and agencies as needed
  • Assist with early intervention strategies for students with special needs
  • Assist in conducting informal and formal classroom observations of teachers
  • Assist in preparing and administering performance appraisals of classified and certificated staff
  • Assist site and District administration in key leadership projects including curriculum development, assessments, data analysis, personnel, budgets, and staff development

Requirements

  • Knowledge of organizational principles and practices
  • Knowledge of laws, Board policies, rules, and regulations that pertain to student discipline, attendance, and transfers
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of appropriate grade level curricula, resources, and instructional practices
  • Knowledge of appropriate classroom management strategies
  • Knowledge of State testing requirements and procedures
  • Knowledge of guidance and counseling objectives, principles, and procedures
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and potential
  • 3+ years of successful public or private teaching experience and/or equivalent service
  • Administrative experience at a school site
  • Valid California K-12 teaching credential
  • Valid Administrative Services Credential
  • Valid California Drivers License

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of successful public or private teaching experience and/or equivalent service, and administrative experience at a school site
