Student Internship - Experience Design

About This Role

Join Gensler as a Summer Experience Design Intern in San Francisco to apply advanced technology to design, collaborating across disciplines to shape brands through physical and digital touchpoints for diverse projects like sports venues and mixed-use developments.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design of integrated brand and digital experiences, including digital media, interactive moments, and spatial storytelling
• Support project work across multiple phases, from concept and visioning through design development and production
• Collaborate closely with brand designers, digital experience designers, architects, interior designers, and strategists to create cohesive, experience-led solutions
• Participate in experience mapping and narrative development that bridges brand strategy and spatial design
• Visualize design solutions through motion studies, sketches, diagrams, models, and prototypes
• Gain exposure to designing at architectural scale, including an understanding of drawings, coordination, and real-world implementation
• Work with fellow interns on a student-led project serving the local community

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Communication Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interaction Design, Digital Media, Design Technology or another relevant program
• Completed third year of an undergraduate program or first year of a graduate program
• Returning to your program post-internship
• Demonstrate a strong grasp of the fundamentals of design – including color theory, typography, composition, scale, 3D space and motion
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro)
• Proficiency with Figma
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Communication Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interaction Design, Digital Media, Design Technology or another relevant program.
• Completed third year of an undergraduate program or first year of a graduate program and returning to program post-internship.

Nice to Have

• Interior Design and Architecture coursework
• UX/UI capabilities
• Experience with Blender, Cinema 4D or other 3D modeling and visualization tools
• Experience with CAD Tools, Revit or other and architectural design software
