Structural Design Engineer

About This Role

As a Structural Design Engineer, you will investigate design build issues and develop structural engineering and instrumentation installation solutions for aircraft. This role involves authoring temporary engineering solutions, handling non-conformances, and coordinating with various engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Investigate design build issues and develop structural engineering solutions
• Author temporary engineering solutions to resolve build issues promptly
• Handle the disposition of aircraft non-conformances, including providing rework instructions (MRB)
• Perform investigations on aircraft and engineering drawings
• Coordinate with various engineering disciplines, Quality Assurance, and operations manufacturing representatives
• Design Flight Test engineering change requests and coordinate with work package owners
• Author engineering instructions to define structural special instructions or restrictions
• Design and release Special Missions Engineering structural and systems installations

Requirements

• 15 years of primary/secondary design experience on aircraft
• Proficient in CATIA V5 with at least 6,000 hours of experience
• Experience in Special Missions or Aftermarket modifications
• Experience in supporting manufacturing and aircraft modifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering or a related discipline
• Must meet US ITAR requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering or a related discipline
• 15 years of primary/secondary design experience on aircraft

Nice to Have

• Experience with munitions integrations
• Recent experience with 2D drawings
• Proficiency in CATIA V5 Workbenches: Assembly Design, Part Design, Aerospace Sheetmetal, Tubing Design, Kinematics, and Electrical Harness Routing
• Experience with Teamcenter PLM
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Highly motivated self-starter
