Provide safe, competent, and quality patient care as a Registered Professional Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Mount Sinai Hospital. This role involves applying nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practice to ensure excellent patient outcomes and experience.
Responsibilities
- Deliver patient care incorporating Relationship Centered Care and applying the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills in patient care management.
- Integrate relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.
- Prioritize all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care.
- Educate patients and caregivers about their care plan, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, family, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team.
- Role model the tenets of Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care through actions like Admission Welcome, Bedside shift Report, and Purposeful Hourly Rounding.
- Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Advance clinical competence in nursing practice and project a professional image to colleagues.
- Participate in shared decision making through specialty practice councils and nursing department committees.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Relevant clinical competence in assigned area of nursing practice
- New York RN License and Registration
- NY Infection Control and Child Abuse Certificate
- BLS from the American Heart Association
- 3.5 GPA and/or above
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Relevant clinical competence in area of nursing practice assigned; new graduates must possess current knowledge of the nursing process and its application
