Oversee the transportation department across one or more locations, providing leadership and acting as a liaison between customers, operations, and support teams. Ensure high standards of customer service, manage resources efficiently, and develop team members.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage inventory supplies to ensure adequate inventories are maintained at all times
- Manage driver debrief process
- Ensure documentation (manifest, PDT receipt, etc.) for every customer transaction
- Update route comments as required
- Maintain a high standard of customer service as measured by key metrics (on-time, no missed stops, loyalty, etc.)
- Develop relationships with customers and establish contacts providing accurate service feedback
- Review payroll hours to ensure overtime hours are necessary and all employees are working efficiently
- Manage route vehicles, containers, load bars and straps, hand-trucks, PDT’s and printers, and all other company equipment and assets
- Select, train, and develop an effective and efficient staff
- Establish and communicate performance standards and objectives; conduct performance appraisals
- Perform “ride a-longs”, ensuring Route Drivers operate and work safely, efficiently, productively, and deliver high customer service
- Track and input DOT hours/JJ Keller
- Administer Company policies and procedures and ensure compliance and safety
- Monitor and ensure that employees are performing their functions safely and productively
- Oversee and participate in the maintenance of Driver Qualification Files, DOT Log Files and Vehicle Condition Reports for all Route Drivers and equipment
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Valid drivers license
- Maintains a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC)
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, HIPAA, and NAID regulations
- Knowledge of computer software applications (spreadsheets, word processing)
- Knowledge of inventory management and routing
Qualifications
- High School or Equivalent
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience, some college preferred

- Commercial Vehicle Driving experience
