About This Role

This role involves safely picking up and transporting medical waste and delivering supplies, managing assigned routes, and providing exceptional customer service while adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations. The driver will operate company vehicles equipped with camera telematics and ELD/GPS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned routes ensuring customers’ waste is picked up in a safe, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
  • Plan daily schedule based on customers’ needs by reviewing daily paperwork.
  • Follow routing software route schedule.
  • Prepare and load trucks to service select accounts for the day, ensuring enough supplies are added.
  • Unload trucks at various Stericycle and customer sites, ensuring waste is secured.
  • Ensure that customers have packaged and prepared waste according to regulations before transporting.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service, communicating any issues to the Transportation Manager/Supervisor or Dispatcher.
  • Ensure waste, supplies, and material handling equipment are secured prior to operating the vehicle on a public highway.
  • Complete assigned paperwork legibly, neatly, accurately, and completely and return to Transportation Supervisor or Dispatcher.
  • Complete DOT Driver Log, if applicable.
  • Communicate with Stericycle Transportation Supervisor and/or Dispatcher regarding any change to route pickups.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip maintenance on assigned trucks.
  • Use ELD and Geotab to log hours in accordance with DOT guidelines, if applicable.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid standard driver’s license (Class D or above) with an excellent driving record
  • Ability to obtain and retain a valid Medical Examiner Card (MED)
  • Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records as required by federal regulation

Qualifications

  • High School or Equivalent
  • 6+ months of experience, preferably in driving shred/box trucks and route management.

Nice to Have

  • 6+ months of experience in driving shred/box trucks and route management
