Lead and execute major research projects in molecular biology, focusing on advanced experimental design, data analysis, and the development of new techniques. This role involves critical analysis of data, adaptation of strategies, and contributions to scientific communication.
Responsibilities
- Design, organize, and execute advanced research projects
- Analyze data critically and adapt experimental strategies based on results
- Perform molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques including cloning, mutagenesis, RNA/DNA analysis, qPCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and assay development
- Work with cancer cell lines and primary cells, perform transfections/infections, FACS, immunostaining, confocal microscopy, and cell-based drug screens
- Manage mouse colonies, perform genotyping, husbandry, and tissue collection
- Supervise and train graduate students and technicians
- Document results rigorously, contribute to manuscripts, and participate in scientific discussions
- Review and analyze resulting research data, revising techniques as necessary
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of research papers and abstracts for publication
- Plan and supervise training of laboratory personnel on techniques, equipment, and safety
Requirements
- PhD with major coursework in molecular biology or related field
- 6+ years research experience in molecular biology, with at least 1 year at Research Scientist level
- Expertise in molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques (cloning, mutagenesis, RNA/DNA analysis, qPCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, assay development)
- Experience with cancer cell lines, primary cells, transfections/infections, FACS, immunostaining, confocal microscopy, and cell-based drug screens
- Experience with rodent studies, including mouse colony management, genotyping, husbandry, and tissue collection
Qualifications
- PhD with major coursework in field of assignment or Master's Degree with major coursework in field of assignment or Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in field of assignment
- 6 years research experience in field of assignment; including at 1 year at the level of Research Scientist or equivalent with a PhD, or 9 years with a Master's degree, or 12 years with a Bachelor's degree.
