About This Role

This senior finance and accounting analyst role involves preparing financial analyses, forecasts, and supporting various accounting and business planning functions. The position provides advice and counsel to management and internal client organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret actual financial results, prepare short-term forecasts, and report to management on O&M expense, capital project expense, and workforce levels.
  • Develop long-term department-level O&M expense and workforce projections to support the business planning process.
  • Provide financial, analytical, and general business support to internal client organizations.
  • Support general accounting and month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Provide information to support the development of regulatory filings for state and federal oversight agencies.
  • Collaborate with department managers to establish financial targets and assist in achieving them.
  • Develop and maintain efficient, reliable, and accurate business reporting tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field; or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum of five years experience in accounting or a related field with strong data gathering, analysis, interpretation, trending, and modeling skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience in financial analysis
  • Proficiency with personal computers including spreadsheet, database, word processing, and presentation applications (especially Excel)
  • Prior experience with financial accounting systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field
  • 5+ years experience in accounting or a related field with strong data gathering, analysis, interpretation, trending, and modeling.

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree
  • CPA designation
  • Working knowledge of FERC reporting standards and requirements
  • Experience with SAP and/or Oracle in an accounting or financial reporting role
  • General understanding of utility economics and utility commission rules and regulations
