Specialty Team Member (Beer, Wine, Cheese & Chocolate)

About This Role

Serve as a Specialty Team Member, focusing on beer, wine, cheese, and chocolate products. Provide exceptional customer service, maintain product displays, and ensure quality standards to support the regional Specialty vision.

Responsibilities

• Surprise and delight customers with consistent and delicious food offerings
• Engage in positive and proactive selling techniques
• Ensure fresh and appealing product displays by keeping cases and shelves clean and well-stocked
• Check all products to ensure they meet WFM quality standards
• Monitor spoilage and supply waste to minimize impact on department expenses
• Assist with the sampling program, ensuring sample areas are full, clean, and appealing
• Maintain back stock in good order
• Access and communicate information about market conditions to customers
• Complete temperature, sanitation, and sweep logs as required
• Provide excellent customer service, addressing needs in a timely manner and modeling suggestive selling techniques
• Maximize sales potential through effective prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising
• Follow and comply with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health, sanitation, and safe work practices

Requirements

• Ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in the department
• Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness
• Ability to sell proactively
• Working understanding of Specialty department and team and WFM quality goals
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
• Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors
• Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards
• Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills
• Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to work in a wet and cold environment
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
