Specialty Team Member (Beer, Wine, Cheese & Chocolate)

About This Role

Support the Specialty team by receiving, preparing, and selling products like beer, wine, cheese, and chocolate. This role focuses on maintaining displays and providing excellent customer service in accordance with Whole Foods Market standards.

Responsibilities

• Receive and prepare specialty products
• Maintain the Specialty floor and displays to ensure appeal
• Sell specialty products including beer, wine, cheese, and chocolate
• Engage customers through positive and proactive selling techniques
• Ensure products meet Whole Foods Market quality standards and monitor spoilage
• Assist with sampling programs, keeping areas full, clean, and appealing
• Maintain back stock in good order
• Access and communicate market conditions to customers
• Ensure completion of temperature, sanitation, and sweep logs
• Provide excellent customer service, addressing needs promptly and courteously

Requirements

• Ability to learn basic knowledge of all department products
• Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness
• Ability to sell proactively
• Working understanding of Specialty department and Whole Foods Market quality goals
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
• Ability to follow directions and procedures
• Effective time management and organization skills
• Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
• Ability to work in a wet and cold environment
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications

• No prior retail experience required

Nice to Have

• TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures by Servers of Alcohol) course completion (if serving alcohol and age 18+)
