Specialty Instructor - Dance/Tumbling

About This Role

Instruct dance and tumbling classes for children ages 5-12, focusing on skill development, technique, and safety, while designing curriculum and assisting with program promotion.

Responsibilities

• Develop and present tumbling classes for ages 5-12 years old
• Design courses, prepare course descriptions, and procure all class materials
• Instruct tumbling to program participants, specifically geared to students in dance programs
• Develop new programs and/or maintain existing programs to expand beyond current status
• Instruct participants in skills, techniques, and code of conduct of the tumbling program
• Exercise safety awareness and practices at all times
• Assist in marketing and evaluating assigned program(s)
• Monitor enrollment numbers of existing and future classes
• Work and communicate daily with customers, supervisors, and co-workers
• Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of the surrounding program area before and after each program

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age
• High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to write simple correspondence
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed by uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) required. College degree related to specialty area or experience as tumbling or gymnastic coach or instructor.
• Experience as tumbling or gymnastic coach or instructor.

Nice to Have

• College degree related to specialty area
• Knowledge of various forms of dance such as ballet, modern dance, jazz, tap, and hip-hop
• Ability to work with younger student populations
