About This Role

This Specialty Dental Assistant position provides clinical support for surgical and general dental procedures for faculty, residents, and students at UKHC Turfland. The role involves four-handed chairside assisting during various dental treatments and managing diagnostic tasks and clinical inventory.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support for surgical and general dental procedures performed by faculty, residents, and students
• Perform four-handed chairside assisting during pediatric and adult treatments such as orthodontics, restorative, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and implant placement
• Obtain patient consent and review medical histories
• Initiate IVs and draw blood for PRF preparation
• Set up and break down operatories
• Monitor and document vital signs during oral and IV sedation
• Administer medications under supervision and assist during medical emergencies
• Pass instruments during procedures and deliver post-operative instructions
• Escort patients after surgery
• Manage clinical inventory and supply orders
• Perform diagnostic tasks such as taking radiographs, impressions, and intraoral scans

Requirements

• HS diploma
• 1 year of related experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Ability to obtain Coronal Polishing, Dental X-ray, and IV Sedation competencies within 6 months of hire
