This Athletic Trainer position provides daily medical coverage, injury prevention, assessment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play planning for athletes at Kentucky State University. The role includes managing medical documentation, coordinating with healthcare specialists, and promoting injury prevention to ensure athlete well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily medical coverage, injury prevention, assessment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play planning for athletes within the university’s athletics system
- Act as a liaison between players, coaches, and healthcare professionals to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of athletes
- Manage medical documentation and injury tracking
- Coordinate with UK HealthCare’s physicians and rehabilitation specialists for athlete referrals
- Assist with emergency planning and response protocols at training and match facilities
- Promote education and awareness regarding injury prevention and performance optimization
- Support event coverage and medical operations for events and teams as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training
- Athletic Trainer Certification
- Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure or eligibility at time of hire
- Strong understanding of sports injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation techniques
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficient in EMR documentation and basic administrative tasks
- Commitment to continuing education and evidence-based clinical practice
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training required
- 0 years of related experience
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree
- Experience working with collegiate athletes
- Prior outreach/field-based AT experience
