Software Engineer III

About This Role

This role involves providing guidance to small groups of engineers, supporting business by responding to user queries and providing solutions, and managing complex engineering projects from requirements to delivery and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing guidance to small groups of two to three engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by providing pertinent documents, directions, examples, and timeline
• Provide support to the business by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues, researching and identifying needed solutions, determining implementation designs, and providing guidance regarding implications of new and enhanced systems
• Manage small to large-sized complex projects by reviewing project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions, researching and identifying alternative solutions, and determining needed solution based on return on investment and value add to the business
• Gather requested information (design documents, product requirements, wire frames)
• Write and develop code for projects
• Conduct unit testing
• Communicate status and issues to team members and stakeholders
• Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information, performing root cause analysis, engaging support teams, developing solutions, and driving the development of an action plan
• Participate in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to come up with high-level design by partnering with product management, project management, business, and user experience teams

Requirements

• Production experience integrating LLM/GenAI/Agentic AI capabilities into enterprise systems, and understanding of technologies like Model Context Protocol (MCP)
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Gemini CLI, or similar)
• Designing and developing RESTful web services using Java and Advanced Java; designing and implementing services based on Micro Services Architecture and Service Oriented Architecture using Spring framework
• Coding in an object-oriented programming language such as C++, Python, or Java
• Designing schema and writing queries for Relational Database Management System such as MySQL and Oracle DB
• Designing and implementing data layer using NoSQL databases such as CosmosDB
• Developing around messaging pipelines such as Kafka streaming, Active MQ, and IBM MQ
• Writing unit tests and integration tests using testing frameworks such as Junit, Mockito and PowerMockito; implementing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub, YML scripting, and shell scripting
• Performing performance tuning and configure application servers such as Tomcat
• Development experience using Operating Systems such as Linux and Windows; working with ORM such as Hibernate
• Designing schema using JSON and XML
• Understanding and working experience using Agile Methodologies and Software Development Life cycle

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of accessibility best practices and implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards
