This role supports the Director of Social Services by identifying and addressing the psychosocial, mental, and emotional needs of nursing home residents. The Social Services Assistant will help residents access services to maximize their well-being and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Social Services
- Identify psychosocial, mental, and emotional needs of nursing home residents
- Provide, develop, and/or aid in the access of services to meet resident needs
- Exercise professional judgment to maximize resident well-being and quality of life
- Perform administrative duties
- Engage in advocacy and resident rights
- Conduct clinical assessment and care planning
- Implement clinical therapeutic and behavioral interventions
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (BSW), sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, psychology, or related field directly related to social work
- Skills in communication, assessment, and social work methods and techniques
- Ability to work effectively with various disciplines in individual and team settings
- Working understanding of social systems
- Ability to implement pertinent state and federal regulations
- Successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical / drug screen
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (BSW), sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, psychology, or any other specialized intellectual instruction directly related to social work
Nice to Have
- Master's in Social Work (MSW) preferred
- Minimum three years supervised social work experience in a health care setting working directly with individuals
- Prior work with elders in a community or long-term care setting
