Dietary Aide

About This Role

This role involves preparing and delivering meals to residents, ensuring dietary requirements are met, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen. The Dietary Aide works to provide essential food services within a rehabilitation and nursing center.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver juice, applesauce, and pudding to nurses’ station for med passes
• Complete set up of resident meal trays according to specified diets, including napkins, place mats, silverware, glassware, and condiments
• Place appropriate hot and cold food items on residents’ trays at mealtime according to menu, diet cards, or manager/cook designations
• Prepare sandwiches, juices, special and meal items like peanut butter & jelly, thickened milk, coffee, tea, and fruit
• Prepare and/or deliver food items for the restorative program
• Deliver all meal trays to appropriate destinations on the nursing floor at appropriate times
• Retrieve meal trays, collect dishware from floors, and break down all trays through the dish machine
• Put away items in appropriate places and restock dish machine with chemicals
• Take out all trashcans after each meal, sweep, mop, and sanitize work areas
• Accept phone calls and requests from nursing staff and residents, fulfilling them in a timely manner
• Assist cook when needed and make authorized food substitutions
• Assist in food preparation for special meals and parties

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent
• Successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical / drug screen.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a high school education or high school equivalency diploma is required.
