This Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) role ensures safety compliance on construction sites, adhering to federal, state, and local regulations including 29 CFR 1926, EM 385-1-1, and OSHA. The SSHO will implement and administer the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and act as a Competent Person for various safety scopes, working on a project to replace the roof of the Main Hospital at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a full-time SSHO on-site during all construction activities
- Ensure compliance with 29 CFR 1926, EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Implement and administer the Accident Prevention Plan (APP)
- Act as the designated Competent Person (CP) for fall protection, excavation/trenching, scaffolds & ladders, rigging & cranes, and fire/life safety
- Provide qualified alternate coverage when temporarily off-site as required
Requirements
- Experience in construction safety and compliance
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations
- Ability to implement and manage safety plans
- Proficiency in safety training and compliance enforcement
- Meets all training and qualification requirements of EM 385-1-1
Qualifications
- 7+ years of construction safety experience or a Safety & Health degree plus 5+ years of experience
