Shipping and Receiving Clerk

About This Role

Assist with managing inbound and outbound loads for customers in a warehouse environment, ensuring accuracy, maintaining records, and coordinating transportation for a structural steel products supplier.

Responsibilities

• Verify and record all items loaded for receiving
• Maintain receiving records for categories including goods returned, dunnage, and returnable pallets
• Maintain database of shipment data to update customer orders and provide billing documents
• Notify supervisor of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions
• Transport materials on shipping dock with a hand truck or other vehicle
• Load trucks or railroad car using a forklift
• Organize and manage the daily load report/board for shipping
• Enter/Scan heats accurately onto BOLs from pick lists
• Verify all BOL's, MTR's and manifests for loads/will calls are printed
• Ensure all paperwork is prepared and organized for drivers

Requirements

• Detail-oriented
• Intermediate computer skills
• Prior warehouse experience
• Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received
• Basic understanding of railway, dock, and warehouse procedures
• Good organizational skills
• Proficient with Excel/Word, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or inventory software

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Prior warehouse experience

Nice to Have

• Crane certification
• Forklift certification
