About This Role

Supervise the capital projects section within the Engineering and Capital Projects Division, overseeing major construction project management and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the functions, activities, and staff of the capital projects section
  • Oversee major construction project management
  • Manage capital improvement project requests
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, ordinances, and codes
  • Handle complex and highly detailed work requiring exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Learn, retain, and apply a broad range of technical and regulatory information
  • Communicate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, and members of the public
  • Train and mentor staff members including Project Managers, Engineers, Inspectors, Technicians, and other support personnel

Requirements

  • 6+ years of full-time experience performing project management in a public works, engineering, or construction field
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, architectural engineering, construction management, engineering, or a closely related field
  • Professional Engineer or Architect registration OR professional project management certification (CCM, PMP)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to learn, retain, and apply technical and regulatory information
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in architecture, architectural engineering, construction management, engineering, or a closely related field or equivalent experience/training
  • Six years of full-time experience performing project management in a public works, engineering, or construction field
