Process and handle laboratory specimens, manage patient results, and register outpatient laboratory encounters, utilizing multiple computer applications to ensure accurate and timely operations within a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Receive, process, and label laboratory specimens accurately and timely
- Handle and disburse laboratory data and patient results appropriately
- Support acute-care and outpatient caregivers, vendors, consultants, and Laboratory Services staff
- Register outpatient laboratory encounters, obtaining complex demographic, insurance, and medical information
- Maintain up to date knowledge and competency on required registration functions
- Utilize multiple computer applications to complete patient encounters
Requirements
- 2 years college education, or verifiable experience including proficiency in moderately complex testing
- 3 years Healthcare, or related field experience including phlebotomy-related experience
- Demonstrated outstanding Service Excellence experience
- Clerical or client services experience
- Phlebotomy skills (required in float pool and some ministries)
- Demonstrated experience with State and Federal and other regulatory Compliance regulations including CMS, CAP, TJC, CLIA, EMTALA, COBRA and HIPPA
Qualifications
- 2 years college education with courses in biological sciences, anatomy, and medical terminology
- 3 years of healthcare or related field experience, including phlebotomy-related experience, or verifiable experience including proficiency in moderately complex testing
Nice to Have
- Phlebotomy program with 1 year of phlebotomy related experience
- Certification from a Clinical Laboratory Assistant Program
- Certification in Phlebotomy, medical assisting, research, or clinical laboratory upon hire
- Industry-related experience in a high volume, acute care setting
- 2 years Phlebotomy, medical assisting, research, clinical laboratory experience
- Job experience in specimen collection, specimen preparation and equipment operation, pneumatic tubes systems and other laboratory equipment
