The Uber Global Network Infrastructure team is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and operate next-generation network solutions including cloud, transit, backbone, and on-prem networks. This role focuses on developing intelligent and adaptive AI-driven network infrastructures to ensure resilience, high performance, and scalability.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and operate all facets of next-generation network solutions, including cloud, transit, backbone, and on-prem networks in a 24/7 environment
- Ensure network availability, performance, and future scalability through automation
- Collaborate with multiple Engineering and Business organizations to develop and implement network-based solutions
- Research and apply new technologies to production networks
- Identify and work with stakeholders to drive new production designs and deployments for POP, backbone, transit, or Cloud networking
- Provide production on-prem and cloud networking support (GCP, OCI), interconnects, and VPC creation
- Collaborate with internal and external teams for projects, new functionality, or troubleshooting operational issues
- Participate in a 24/7/365 global on-call rotation
Requirements
- 5+ years of Network engineering and operational experience in production environments
- Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages (Python, Go) for network automation and tooling
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Network engineering and operational experience in production environments
Nice to Have
- Experience leading large-scale green or brownfield architecture, designs, and deployments for global or national enterprise or Service Providers in backbone or data center network fabrics
- Domain expertise in AWS, OCI, GCP, Backbone network design and architecture, large scale on premise data center networking, network automation and observability, or Large scale distributed systems
- Hands-on experience designing, deploying and/or operating Cloud networking in AWS, OCI, or GCP environments (Direct peering, VPC networking, Security controls)
- Proven ability to lead operational excellence through best-practice change management, outage mitigation, and blameless post-mortem processes
- Great interpersonal skills, deep technical ability, and a portfolio of successful execution
