Lead Product Manager for Safety Media Product Team

About This Role

As a Lead Product Manager for the Safety Media team, you will lead the mission to build recording products that provide additional peace of mind for Uber users. You will drive the next generation of on-device recording technology, supporting millions of trips daily across diverse devices and conditions. This role requires a strong technical background, exceptional leadership, and a passion for innovation in safety.

Responsibilities

• Partner with leads from Engineering, Data Science, Operations, Design, and Support to establish a bold vision and execute on it, balancing speed, technical depth, engineering considerations, and quality
• Combine technical expertise with strong product sense, diving deep into technical and analytical challenges, while obsessing over user experience and finding novel solutions
• Work side by side with engineers and design to prototype new device media capabilities, test them in real-world scenarios, and iterate quickly to validate technical feasibility and user value
• Internalize and deeply understand Uber's mission and strategies, as well as the mission and objectives of your team
• Formulate a long and short-term product strategy to develop breakthrough products and solutions based on deep customer insights and business needs
• Galvanize technical and business stakeholders across the company to align with your vision and lead other leaders without authority
• Partner with User Experience Research, Operations, and Support teams to seek insights on user problems and evangelize those problems and proposed solutions across Uber
• Develop positive partnerships and make strategic trade-offs advised by data, collaborating with engineering/business to develop a clear roadmap and drive execution
• Effectively present and communicate product strategy, implementation, and plans to various communities, including immediate team, business audiences, external partners, and executive leadership
• Build and cultivate a strong team culture with a focus on execution and results, acting as a highly effective collaborator
• Work with regional teams to understand issues on the ground and integrate solutions into the roadmap

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of product management experience
• Technically proficient, with experience collaborating with engineers on sophisticated technical architecture
• Ability to craft an inspiring and coherent product vision, multi-year strategy, and quarterly roadmap
• Stellar design instincts, sharp analytical skills, and thoughtful product decisions
• Experience leading product managers and product management teams
• Prior experience setting and delivering on a crafted strategy with accountability for outcomes
• "Driver" mentality, biased toward action, collaborative, master disambiguator/simplifier, constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery
• Grittiness and a willingness to roll up sleeves to solve problems hands-on

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent
• Minimum 5+ years of product management experience delivering highly successful and innovative products

Nice to Have

• Experience working directly on Video, Recording, or Media-focused products and platforms
• Experience working within a highly matrixed organization
• Experience running sophisticated experiments to assess the efficiency of releases
• Experience identifying risk trends and addressing them efficiently
• Strong technical fluency in mobile platforms (iOS/Android), device reliability constraints (storage, battery, bandwidth), or security/privacy tradeoffs with sensitive media
• Track record of pairing technical depth with strong product sense, turning complex engineering capabilities into simple, trusted, and widely adopted user experiences
