About This Role

The Senior Clinical Billing Specialist is an expert responsible for researching, analyzing, and resolving physician and hospital accounts. This role involves direct interaction with patients, providers, and insurers to resolve complex billing issues, review reports, and recommend operational changes while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, and resolve physician and hospital accounts
  • Work directly with patients, providers, insurers, and departments to resolve complex accounts
  • Review reports and monitor account status
  • Recommend changes in operating procedures and policies
  • Investigate account balances and causes for non-payment, initiating claim adjustments and resubmitting clean claims
  • Complete appeals within established timeframes to prevent write-offs
  • Identify root causes of denials and create solutions to prevent future denials
  • Complete all cash reconciliation, including electronic remittances
  • Assist patients with billing, service, and insurance questions
  • Update systems with insurance or patient demographic corrections and resubmit claims

Requirements

  • Familiarity with Windows environment
  • Ability to accurately read, analyze, and interpret contract documents for all payers
  • Ability to analyze credit balances
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED plus five (5) years of experience in a healthcare revenue cycle related or bookkeeping function OR Associate 's degree in a related field, plus three (3) years of relevant work experience OR Bachelor 's degree in a related field plus one (1) year of relevant work experience.
  • Five years of experience in a healthcare revenue cycle related or bookkeeping function, or less with higher education.
