Perform direct patient care as an RN Surgical First Assist by utilizing the nursing process, adhering to the California Nurse Practice Act, and maintaining hospital policies. Assess patient health status, develop individualized care plans, and coordinate support services during surgery.
Responsibilities
- Perform direct patient care using the nursing process according to the California Nurse Practice Act
- Assess the health status of the patient to develop an individualized plan of care
- Instruct patients and families to achieve optimal health status
- Document nursing activities for continuity of care, quality improvement, and professional accountability
- Plan, supervise, and assist with patient transfer to protect patients and personnel from injury
- Coordinate support services needed during surgery by anticipating patient and surgical team needs
- Provide assigned patients and families with explanations of procedures, treatments, and medications
- Demonstrate organizational, time-management, and priority-setting skills
- Ensure knowledge of hospital and department performance improvement initiatives and actively participate in improvement efforts
Requirements
- Valid California RN license
- Current BCLS Certification
- Current CRNFA Certification
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Minimum of one-year experience in specialty preferred
