RN - Med/Surg

About This Role

Provide direct and indirect patient care for Med/Surg patients, effectively communicate with healthcare team members, and ensure patient safety and quality of care.

Responsibilities

• Perform head-to-toe and pain assessments on all patients, including pediatric and geriatric populations
• Revise and evaluate patient care plans based on response to treatment
• Perform waived testing (point-of-care testing) and interpret results
• Administer medications correctly based on patient age and condition, following the seven medication rights
• Formulate and evaluate patient teaching plans, involving families as appropriate
• Assist physicians with procedures and perform services to level of licensure
• Treat patients and families with respect, dignity, and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs
• Communicate appropriately and clearly with Nurse Manager, co-workers, and physicians
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all regulatory requirements and organizational policies
• Safely manage and operate equipment and perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety

Requirements

• Current state Registered Nurse Licensure, within state of practice
• Current BLS certification
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Basic computer knowledge

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
