Retirement Plan Operations Specialist

About This Role

As a Retirement Plan Operations Specialist, you will learn the full process of administering, testing, and reporting on 401(k) plans. You will review client documents, keep clients updated on progress, and help them understand year-end reporting for government filings.

Responsibilities

• Work with clients to obtain necessary information to prepare annual reporting
• Review documents submitted by clients for completeness and accuracy
• Reconcile plans with rollovers and plan stock using Excel and administration software
• Utilize administration software to complete 401(k) testing and reporting
• Make outgoing reminder calls and send emails to clients during the plan year reporting process
• Prepare required 401(k) plan government filings, including the IRS Form 5500, using filing software
• Educate clients regarding the administration of their 401(k) plan and 401(k) plan documents
• Share knowledge and explain complex topics simply

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Meticulous attention to detail and proactive approach to problem solving
• Skills in customer service, organization, and collaboration
• Adequate math and analytical skills
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Ability to work in an autonomous environment
• Ability to create an inclusive workplace
• Must pass a background check
• Must meet work from home requirements (designated workspace, reliable high-speed internet)

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field (business, finance, etc.) or equivalent work experience preferred

Nice to Have

• Basic knowledge of 401(K) plan structure, ROBS, and IRS/DOL Regulations
