About This Role

Prepare menu items according to company standards, maintain kitchen cleanliness, control food costs, and support the team to maximize guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cooking items according to company policies and procedures
  • Report to work well-groomed, in clean and proper uniform, and practice good personal hygiene
  • Use, maintain, and clean all kitchen equipment, preparation and storage areas
  • Stock and rotate products on line to ensure they are within shelf life standards
  • Ensure correct portioning, quality, cooking time, and performance standards for menu items
  • Prepare prep items according to guest requests, following food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Control food cost by ensuring accurate portioning and specified preparation of food products
  • Utilize FIFO (first in first out) standards when preparing items
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, prep areas, coolers, and storage areas
  • Follow proper safety procedures and policies concerning food handling, rotation, and storage
  • Conduct line sweeps throughout the shift and clean as you go
  • Clean all equipment on line and other areas as directed by management
  • Communicate with Manager on Duty and coworkers regarding product/service deficiencies, equipment, and safety problems
  • Assist dishwasher with washing and restocking dishes, pots, pans, and utensils
  • Assist front of house staff with cleanliness of dining room and provide guest service

Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to handle exposure to heat, steam, smoke, and cold
  • Ability to reach heights of approximately 6 feet and depths of 2.5-3 feet
  • High level of mobility and flexibility in space provided
  • Ability to read, write, and perform addition/subtraction calculations
  • Ability to control and utilize fingers to write, slice, chop, and operate equipment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for distances up to 30 feet
