About This Role

Provide friendly and efficient guest service as a Host/Cashier, ensuring guest satisfaction, managing dining room flow, and performing cashier duties at Perkins Restaurant & Bakery.

Responsibilities

  • Report to work well-groomed, in uniform, and practice good personal hygiene
  • Open the door as guests enter and leave the building
  • Use greeting, seating, and waiting list procedures to seat guests in a friendly and timely manner
  • Anticipate, identify, and correct system breakdowns to achieve maximum guest satisfaction
  • Complete wait sheets
  • Greet and seat new guests, making a friendly first impression and describing features/soup of the day
  • Check out guests at the register, inquire about their meal and service, and invite them back
  • Move through the dining room regularly to ensure guests have all needed items and feel special
  • Offer specific suggestions for take-out bakery items and efficiently package to-go orders
  • Ensure the cashier area, bakery cases, displays, lobby, entryway, guest restrooms, and dining room stay clean
  • Assist servers with pre-bussing procedures and maintain guests' needs throughout their dining experience
  • Sweep floors around tables to assist servers where needed
  • Perform side work during downtime, including rolling silverware, restocking stations, and bussing tables
  • Communicate product/service deficiencies, equipment, and safety problems to Manager on Duty and coworkers
  • Keep General Manager and Manager on Duty informed of problems/issues and propose alternative solutions

Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to see at a distance (20 feet) and close range (12 inches)
  • Ability to distinguish shapes and utilize peripheral vision
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Mobility/flexibility in space provided
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic addition/subtraction calculations
  • Ability to control and utilize fingers for writing, slicing, chopping, and operating equipment
  • Ability to fit through openings 30 inches wide
  • Ability to work irregular hours under pressure during busy times
  • Ability to bend, reach, walk
  • Ability to carry trays of food products weighing about 50 pounds for distances up to 30 feet
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
