About This Role

This Research Scientist role at the University of Alabama at Birmingham focuses on developing and maintaining advanced pulmonary MRI and CT image processing algorithms and AI solutions. Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize pulmonary CT and MRI image processing algorithms
  • Develop AI and machine learning models for lung imaging applications, including segmentation, classification, and disease progression prediction
  • Ensure the robustness and scalability of existing AI algorithms
  • Regularly update and maintain codebases, incorporating new research findings and technological advancements
  • Conduct validation of image processing techniques
  • Collaborate on cross-disciplinary research projects, contributing to peer-reviewed publications and presentations
  • Work with large-scale CT and MRI imaging datasets, ensuring data quality
  • Apply advanced statistical methods and visualization tools to interpret complex imaging data
  • Manage incoming data for core datasets including those for internal and external multicenter studies
  • Curation of datasets with quality control

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in a related field OR Master's degree in a related field OR Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 1+ year of related experience with a Doctorate degree, 3+ years with a Master's degree, or 5+ years with a Bachelor's degree.
