Research Scientist – Molecular Biology

About This Role

This role involves conducting molecular biology research, focusing on DNA and RNA analysis, PCR/qPCR, and laboratory operations within a contract setting. The scientist will contribute to vaccine programs through strong technical and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Work comfortably in a lab environment performing genomics analysis using DNA and RNA
• Perform PCR/qPCR reactions
• Utilize wet chemistry laboratory skills (pipetting, buffer preparation, filtration, dilution, stoichiometry)
• Maintain proficiency with technical writing and laboratory records (laboratory notebooks, chemical inventory, data management)
• Collaborate effectively with team members and interface with various vaccine programs and groups
• Apply strong technical problem-solving abilities, data interpretation, and presentation competence

Requirements

• Experience working with DNA and RNA for genomics analysis
• Experience performing PCR/qPCR reactions
• Wet chemistry laboratory skills (pipetting, buffer preparation, filtration, dilution, stoichiometry)
• Proficiency with technical writing and laboratory records
• Excellent collaborative and team-working skills
• Strong technical problem-solving abilities, data interpretation and presentation competence
• Experience working with analytical instrumentation (plate readers, thermocyclers, High-throughput microscopy, flow cytometry)
• Experience with laboratory operations
• Experience working in an industry environment
• Experience troubleshooting technical issues (experimental, equipment-related issues)
• Experience in method development and method transfer

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Science, Engineering, or related field (+4 years of experience) or a masters degree in Science, Engineering, or related field (+1-2 years experience)
• 4+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or 1-2 years with a Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related fields

Nice to Have

• Experience with automation
• Experience in sterile cell culture
