About This Role

The Registered Respiratory Therapist will provide respiratory care services to pediatric patients under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Supervisor. This role involves prioritizing work, completing documentation, and demonstrating competency in airway care and patient assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize work appropriately and complete assignments in a timely fashion.
  • Complete all required documentation with special attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrate competency in proper airway care, including suctioning, oral and nasal airway care, cuff pressure monitoring, and extubation.
  • Demonstrate competency in the performance of routine patient assessment and in the ability to correctly recognize and interpret respiratory dysfunction.
  • Perform quality control procedures, as required.
  • Gain competency in new procedures in a timely fashion as they are incorporated into departmental practices.
  • Reflect SDH Service Excellence standards in every interaction.
  • Perform periodic assignment as a shift's Lead Therapist.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist certification (NBRC-RRT)
  • State Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner license (RRT/RCP-State)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
