This position is a temporary, part-time Registered Nursing Clinical Teaching Assistant Instructor role that involves participating in an Agency-sponsored program for up to 12 months. The instructor will receive training to conduct environmental site investigations, focusing on CERCLA site assessments and Brownfield redevelopment, with an emphasis on environmental contaminants and their impact on human health.
Responsibilities
- Participate in an Agency sponsored program for up to 12 months to receive training
- Conduct environmental site investigations that are technical in nature, often concerning environmental contaminants and their impact on human health and the environment
- Receive controlled assignments primarily in CERCLA site assessments
- Receive controlled assignments in municipal Brownfield redevelopment assessments
- Receive controlled assignments in the usages of various field based environmental site characterization technologies
- Communicate effectively and prepare concise written reports
Requirements
- Significant (15-17 semester hours) course work in a geology, hydro-geology, chemistry, biology or environmental science
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to prepare concise written reports
- Participate in medical monitoring program
- Pass a physical exam to wear respiratory protection and function in high heat stress situations while wearing chemical protective clothing
- Capable of wearing an air purifying respirator for long periods of time (e.g. 10 hours with only short 15 minute breaks)
- Carry and utilize a self-contained breathing apparatus (weighing approximately 25 pounds)
- Able to wear chemical resistant clothing in high heat stress situations while performing strenuous physical tasks
- Ability to lift heavy equipment (e.g. 45 pounds)
- Good or correctable hearing and eyesight to respond to emergency field conditions
- Ability to operate an IBM compatible computer and database and word processing software
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in some field of the life sciences
