About This Role

The Aquatics Safety Officer assists the Aquatics Manager in training, auditing, and managing NOVA Parks waterpark facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in ensuring safe and proper operation of all waterparks by conducting routine announced and unannounced audits and inspections
  • Assist with training and evaluation of lifeguard and other aquatic personnel
  • Assist with the coordination of Jeff Ellis and Associates national audits
  • Ensure proper water quality and standards of cleanliness
  • Enforce safety standards
  • Inspect to ensure proper storage and use of pool chemicals
  • Assist with public relations by handling visitor inquiries and providing information and assistance to pool managers
  • Conduct staff meetings and in-service training
  • Assist with the maintenance of audit record logs on water quality, inspections, lifeguard testing, etc.
  • Report unsafe conditions to the Park Specialist, Pool Manager, and/or Supervisor on Duty and Aquatics Manager

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Graduation from high school with a minimum of two years leadership experience (or equivalent)
  • Certification as an Ellis and Associates International Lifeguard Training Program
  • Healthcare Provider Basic Lifesaving Support
  • Standard First Aid
  • Current local certification with license in pool operation (CPO and/or AFO)
  • Ability to make minor repairs on pool equipment as needed
  • Ability to gain a working knowledge of the Park Authority, its history, organization, rules and regulations
  • Availability to work additional hours during peak operating season
  • Strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks (lifting, stooping, bending, tiring and uncomfortable positions)
  • Availability to work a variable work schedule (early and late hours, weekends and holidays)
  • Possession of or ability to obtain valid driver’s license, must maintain safe driving record

Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school with a minimum of two years leadership experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience
  • Minimum two years leadership experience

Certified Pool Operator (Required) Ellis and Associates International Lifeguard Training Program (Required) Healthcare Provider Basic Lifesaving Support (Required) Standard First Aid (Required) Aquatic Facility Operator (Required)
