This role involves providing primary and postoperative nursing care for patients in a plastic surgery setting, ensuring all their needs are met before and after surgical procedures. The nurse will monitor patients, document care, and collaborate with the medical team to provide continuity of care.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the primary care of patients and make rounds to verify patient needs are met
- Provide nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical conditions
- Monitor patients and inform surgeons or anesthesiologists immediately of observed complications
- Assist in coordinating patient care activities with medical staff and healthcare team members for continuity of care
- Document information received from patients and disseminate to appropriate personnel
- Document and carry out Pre/Post-Operative orders given by the Surgeon
- Document all information for post anesthesia care of patients
- Assist nursing staff in identifying and solving nursing care problems
- Collaborate with medical staff and healthcare team members in developing coordinated outcomes and interventions
- Assist with nursing activities during emergencies
- Educate and provide instruction to patients and family members on post-operative care
- Effectively organize time, equipment, supplies, and personnel for patient care management
- Maintain order and cleanliness of postoperative areas
- Assist in inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels
- Follow established HIPAA policies and procedures at all times
- Assume accountability and responsibility for attendance and timely completion of mandatory training, unit specific requirements, and unit meetings
Requirements
- Graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing
- Active Registered Nurse License and educational requirements
- Active BLS certification
- Active ACLS certification
- Minimum 1 year of PACU experience
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or Bachelor's required from an Accredited School of Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
