Registered Nurse - Hospice

About This Role

Provide essential nursing care for terminally ill Hospice patients during evening, overnight, and weekend shifts. Support patients and their families in home care settings, offering guidance and empathetic quality care.

Responsibilities

• Regularly assess and reassess the nursing needs of Hospice patients in their home as needed
• Provide dietary counseling
• Provide Hospice nursing services, treatments, and preventive procedures
• Initiate nursing procedures appropriate for the patient’s Hospice care and safety
• Observe signs and symptoms and report to the physician and IDG members any unexpected changes in the patient’s physical or emotional condition
• Teach, supervise, and counsel the Hospice patient and family members about providing care
• Supervise and train other nursing service personnel
• Develop and re-evaluate the patient/family care plan in conjunction with IDG to meet needs and maintain continuity of care
• Perform specific nursing procedures as needed (e.g., treatments, management of symptoms) following doctor’s orders
• Maintain records as required by Hospice

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a registered nurse, preferred. Active patient contact within past three years, preferred.
