Recreational Aide Long Term Care

About This Role

The Recreational Aide assists the Activities Program Director in providing social, recreational, and other purposeful activities to residents in a Nursing Care Residence. This role stimulates residents' mental, physical, and sensory capabilities, fostering self-respect and dignity.

Responsibilities

• Transport residents to and from activity rooms and lead daily activities as directed.
• Monitor and report any changes in a resident's condition to the appropriate staff immediately.
• Assist in the planning and passenger list for regular resident outings.
• Present information in one-on-one and small group situations to residents, clients, and employees.
• Perform one-on-one room visits for psychosocial and sensory stimulation to room-bound residents.
• Drive the facility van or bus to take residents on outtrips as assigned.
• Attend all required inservices and meetings.
• Assist in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the activity program.
• Assist with resident specific functions as needed, including feeding and seasonal decorating.
• Assist with shopping and errands for activity supplies and residents' personal needs.

Requirements

• Current valid, clean NYS Driver's License (without blemish) with good driving and vision skills
• High School diploma or equivalent

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent
• On the job training. One (1) year experience in a clinical health care field, recreation, or acceptable position preferred.

Nice to Have

• NYS Nurse Aide Certification
• COTA
• One year of experience in a clinical health care field or recreation
