This role supports the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Community Recreation program by performing various duties, including customer service, collecting fees, and assisting with special events. The assistant will help organize, plan, and conduct leisure activities for community members.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service, information, and support for Community Recreation programs and activities
- Collect fees from customers using Point of Sales (POS) and complete a Daily Activity Report (DAR)
- Assist in processing customer Internet registrations and event registrations
- Check Community Recreation equipment in and out, collect rental fees, and perform inspections
- Conduct inventory, maintain inventory controls, and ensure proper accountability of equipment
- Assist in administering traditional and non-traditional workshops, clinics, and events
- Assist with recruitment, training, and scheduling of Community Recreation staff
- Assist in the planning, coordinating, publicizing, marketing, and execution of MWR programs and special events
- Develop working partnerships with on-base and off-base organizations to support MWR programs
- Research and provide information and referral for a variety of recreational opportunities
Requirements
- Combination of experience related to customer service and/or recreation activity based functions
- Ability to organize, plan, administer special events and entertainment activities
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Knowledge of the goals, principles, techniques, and procedures used in organizing, planning, and conducting leisure time activities
- Knowledge of the Navy MWR mission and the entire scope of Community Recreation activities
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to maintain records, compile and organize data for reports, and perform research
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Knowledge of computers, office procedures and print production
