The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works closely with Medical Providers and Medical Assistants at UCSF-GoHealth Urgent Care centers to perform a variety of technical procedures and apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis across all patient age groups. This role is responsible for performing and analyzing patient x-rays, reporting results to Medical Providers, and providing administrative support for efficient center operations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Medical Providers and Medical Assistants on patient care management, organization, and communication
- Exercise professional judgment to provide health care services, including applying x-ray energy for diagnosis or treatment
- Perform and analyze patient x-rays and report results to Medical Providers
- Provide administrative support for efficient operation of Urgent Care Centers
- Inform technical staff of patient flow
- Prepare patients for examination, including conducting interviews, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit
- Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to the provider
- Conduct point of care testing (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
- Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files
- Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration
- State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist
- Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing
- Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology
- Ability to position patients properly for the X-ray procedure
- Ability to follow infection control and radiological safety procedures
Qualifications
- High School Diploma and Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program
- Experience in a clinical setting preferred
