About This Role

The Radiologic Technologist collaborates with Medical Providers and Medical Assistants to examine and treat UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for various technical procedures, applying ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis across all age groups, and performing and analyzing patient x-rays for Medical Providers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and analyze patient x-rays and report results to Medical Providers
  • Administer x-ray services for patients of all age groups, applying x-ray energy for diagnosis or treatment
  • Ensure patients are correctly positioned on/in front of equipment and protected during use
  • Prepare patients for examination, including verifying information and recording medical history
  • Perform preliminary physical tests (e.g., blood pressure, weight, temperature) and conduct point of care testing
  • Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files
  • Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up
  • Perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment, maintaining QA/QC logs
  • Collaborate with ordering/treating Providers to determine appropriate procedures/views
  • Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA principles

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through ARC or AHA
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration
  • State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist (if applicable)
  • Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology for X-ray testing
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment and safety hazards
  • Skill in positioning patients properly for X-ray procedure
  • Skill in identifying and correcting equipment problems or notifying supervisor
  • Skill in following infection control and radiological safety procedures

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
