Quality Control Inspector

About This Role

Assure vendor and manufacturing compliance to Thorlabs' ISO9001 quality standards through visual and dimensional inspection of precision parts. Make quick and accurate pass/fail decisions on optics and mechanical components.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspection of precision parts using metrology devices
• Make quick, accurate pass/fail decisions on optics and mechanical components
• Identify non-conformances through specified inspection methods
• Perform extremely detailed visual inspections on intricate and delicate parts, occasionally under microscopes
• Inspect products against manufacturing prints
• Handle and clean specialty fiber optics, precision optics, and mechanical components
• Maintain proper records in the Manufacturing Database
• Comply with company safety program and maintain a clean and organized work area
• Meet company standards for quantity and quality of work performed

Requirements

• Ability to learn, understand, and effectively apply sampling plans
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Capable of reading mechanical drawings and interpreting dimensional tolerances
• Adaptable to process and procedure changes
• Ability to meet department standards for productivity and quality
• High attention to detail

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
• 1 year experience in a similar position preferred

Nice to Have

• Computer literacy using Microsoft product suite
