Police hospital buildings, grounds, and offsite locations to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, injury, and accidents. Provide exceptional customer service and respond to emergency situations.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to attendance policy, guidelines, and expectations ensuring proper handoff, coverage for shift, team collaboration, and patient/staff safety
- Provide exceptional customer service to all customers, patients, and co-workers
- Escort visitors, patients, and employees to different areas within the main hospital grounds when needed
- Investigate incidents of unusual circumstances reported by hospital staff, visitors, physicians, or patients
- Write incident reports and document investigations based on hospital standards
- Maintain logs/checklists (including security call, dispatcher, cameras, doors, etc.)
- Patrol and secure buildings on the main campus, limiting after-hour accessibility to designated sensitive areas
- Report all safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections
- Respond to calls from medical staff and provide support per hospital guideline and CPI training
- Respond to alarms such as panic alarms and all emergency codes within appropriate timeframes
- Conduct Fire Watches for areas under construction every 1 to 2 hours, or 24 hours depending on projects
- Respond to elevator malfunctions ensuring safety of patients, families and employees
- Monitor visitor registration areas ensuring proper sign-in procedures for FastPass systems
- Respond to any and all emergency situations alerted timely and following all guidelines depending on Codes called
- Escort medical staff with the transporting of deceased patients
- Escort and monitor psych evaluation patients to ensure they are not a threat to themselves or others as per hospital standards & Baker Act guidelines
- Secure helipad for the helicopter when patients are flown in
- Conduct monthly AED checks during 2nd or 3rd shift or as needed to meet compliance
- Provide continuous supervision, observation of behavioral health patients, and adhere to non-violent crisis intervention strategies (CPI)
Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent preferred
- Experience in security within a hospital setting preferred. Experience with customer service within a hospitality industry preferred.

- High school education or equivalent
- Basic Security Officer Healthcare Training Course IAHSS certification
- Experience in security within a hospital setting
- Experience with customer service within a hospitality industry
- Basic proficiency with computer system and Microsoft Software (i.e., Word and Excel)
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
- Bilingual in Spanish
